Since our wedding is fast approaching (officially 65 days away), about a month ago we figured we might want to start thinking about the food situation. My fiancé and I both hadn’t really thought much about the food, we were more concerned with the dancing, DJ, and alcohol. We want our wedding to feel like a party and did not think that plated service lended itself to our vision.

When we switched our venue from the Newport Harbor Yacht Club to Bommer Canyon, we went from having all of the food planned out for us to having to bring in any food that we wanted. My mom had mentioned a food truck might be fun. We were considering it for awhile but then thought that people standing in line for a food truck might be a little TOO informal. Then my mom heard that her favorite food truck, The Lime Truck, also did catering without bringing the truck along. I had never tried their food but everyone I know who had tried it could not say enough good things. They also recently won “The Great Food Truck Race” on the Food Network. I decided to call up their catering manager Cody and schedule a tasting.

We met Cody at their tasting kitchen in Fullerton. I brought along my Mom, Dad, sister, and wedding planner. Cody thought that we were only bringing 3 people and was worried about having enough food. This was definitely not the case- after the tasting the 5 of us had only eaten about half of what he brought out!

I was VERY pleasantly surprised with the food. The Lime Truck serves small plates, all of which contain a protein, vegetable, and starch so they can all be considered a small meal. We enjoyed the food so much that we ended up deciding at the tasting that we were going to use the Lime Truck and have a served buffet for dinner with the following small plates, with a couple more options that aren’t pictured:

Crab Ceviche (served in passed appetizer form)

Coconut Curried Cauliflower with Bok Choy

Rib Eye Quesadilla with Prosciutto, Crème Fraiche, and Honey

Short Rib Enchiladas with Tomatillo Cream Sauce, Smoked Gouda, Fresh Radishes and Scallions

Looking at these photos make me so excited to taste the food again on August 17th!!
