Just to recap my last blog entry, my fiancé Ben and I would love a wedding on the West Coast that reflects his East Coast style. My mom suggested the Newport Harbor Yacht club and I fell in love with the dark wood, white, and nautical details and decided that it would be the perfect place for my reception, so… we have reserved it for August 17th! Which coincidentally will be two days after my parent’s 36th wedding anniversary 🙂
While I am very happy with this reception location, I still do not know where I am going to have the ceremony. I had always envisioned getting married outside, but the Yacht Club can only accommodate 100 guests in an outside ceremony and we will probably have closer to 200 so that option is out.
I also thought it would be fun to have a beach wedding across the street from the Yacht Club. It would have been AMAZING to have a ceremony that looks like this:
Unfortunately after contacting the Newport Beach Parks Department we were told we would only be able to have 50 guests in a beach ceremony and it would have to be standing only. This will just not do either.
So now I am on the hunt for the perfect ceremony location. I had my heart set on outside but I am open to looking at churches in the area as well. This weekend Ben, my mom and I are going to check out Newport Dunes, which has a variety of locations for an outdoor ceremony.
I am already learning that I am going to need to compromise on some details. The most important thing is that I am going to spend the rest of my life married to my best friend, everything else is just icing on the cake!
