Since things have been so busy getting ready for the Holidays lately, we haven’t had much time to work on wedding stuff. This has allowed me to take a step back and really think about what it means to actually get married. I think a lot of times planning the wedding becomes all consuming and it’s easy to forget what all the planning is actually for. While I absolutely LOVE thinking about my dress, bridesmaids, flowers, bachelorette parties, etc, at the end of the day I am so so SO excited to be getting married to my best friend and man of my dreams for the rest of my life.

Since Ben and I are from different states we haven’t spent many Christmases together. I have always spent the holidays with my family and he usually goes home, except for a few times when he hasn’t been able to take time off of work. I am from a very close, large family and we have a ton of traditions around the holidays, so it’s tough to imagine not being there for that. However, since Ben and I are getting married next summer, this will be the last Christmas that we spend apart. We haven’t discussed exactly how that will work, but I am sure there will be some years that I will go back to New Jersey with him.

Even though it will be sad to not be with my parents and brothers and sisters, I am really happy for Ben and me to become our own family unit and make our own traditions. I am also really excited to be a part of his family now. This is something that I hadn’t thought about as much until I received their Christmas card this year and I was in it!

{Excuse the random flash from my iphone!}

I am so lucky that Ben’s family has always welcomed me with open arms and I can’t wait to officially be one of them! I’ll always love a sunny Southern California Christmas, it will be fun to experience a snowy one as well!
